Where the romans saw the end of the world Due to its importance representing the social imaginary of Galicia, it is a must to visit Finisterre, and of course the Death's Coast, which name speaks for itself, and represents an important part of the galician geography and history. Moreover, the beauty of this coast will startle the traveller. Officialy, it starts in Malpica and it ends in Finisterre going through really authentic villages as Laxe, Corme, Camariñas, etc.
If you start from Santiago de Compostela it is an option to go to Noia, which deserves a stop, and go on along the seaside road to the north. Muros is a beautiful coastal village with a small and beauty old city centre at the seaside. The road goes further to Louro, Lira and Carnota, a village placed at the base of Mount Pindo and proud of saying that the biggest sand beach in Galicia belongs to them. If we drive further we will reach Cee and, finally, Finisterre.
Starting from A Coruña and taking the C-550 road we will drive directly to Finisterre. Obviously, the coast is scattered of small sailor villages which are perfect to stop and take a breath: Malpica, Corme, Laxe, Camariñas, Muxía. In any of these villages we will enjoy tasty seafood and, of course, really nice barnacles. The western geographic point of Europe is in Finisterre which astonish us due to its panoramic view over the endless water of the Atlantic Ocean. |
